Observatory Viewing on March 11

Alvin Community College will host a viewing of Jupiter, the Orion Nebula, Uranus, and the winter constellations at the college observatory on March 11.

There will be telescopes set up around the observatory for stargazers to get a glimpse of the planets and constellations from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Parking will be available by the Science/Health Science Building of Mustang Road.

The Observatory opened in 2010 and was part of the $19.9 million bond issue approved by voters in 2005.

Located south of ACC Science/Health Science Building, the Observatory is a 8 by 8-foot building with a 15-foot diameter and is topped by a dome. The structure is used by ACC students as well as the public during certain events. For more information about the Observatory or the event, call 281-756-3500.
